There must be more efforts structured to stop Caribbean brain drain. The main objective of the STBD Foundation is to stop or at least reduce the causes and effects of this brain drain phenomenon currently plaguing the Caribbean at an alarming rate.
This ongoing brain drain is an injustice against the Caribbean population and continues to impact our quality of life in destructive ways. Those who leave the Caribbean hardly ever return to add value to their communities. Maybe it is because of the pace of development in the region or better opportunities in the international market. Whatever it is, this situation needs to be addressed as soon as possible. Powerful individuals with great talent and skill continuously should not have to migrate in order to truly advance their skills, capacity and net worth.
REVERSE BRAIN DRAIN STRATEGIES
Our education system should address this issue and find solutions. They should implement programs within the curriculum that will produce Human Resources with skills and knowledge that can be easily incorporated into the international marketplace.
Whoever is responsible for creating or upgrading policies should know that it is time to get back to the drawing board. Atrocities and unfortunate circumstances can be turned into rewarding stories. We have what it takes to change the narrative. It starts from the parents at home. Programs should be crafted from the preschool to the university and up to the ministers of government level.
STOP CARIBBEAN BRAIN DRAIN
We need policies that stop Caribbean brain drain and guarantee our people from the Caribbean region, Latin America and Africa are occupied in wealth generating sustainable programs, with systems and institutions that help to build our strength and capacity in this global arena. No longer will Caribbean people be relegated and considered to be the lower-class citizens due to devious international agreements and restrictive laws.
